Our Top 5 Cushion Tips! How To Get The Right Look

Cushions, cushions and more cushions!! In my mind you cannot have enough cushions, which is why we have such a large range of cushions in our range. However, it’s amazing how many people say to Angie and I that they just don’t know how to put them together to get the right look. Cushions are great as they are a cost effective way of changing the look and feel of a room without having to change your furniture.

So here are our Top 5 Tips to help you create the cushion look you’ll love!

    1. Think about what colours you love in your home, or that you want for the room that you are updating. I urge you not to just go with a fad, but rather colours that you love (otherwise you’ll get sick of the look very quickly). So, pick a general colour pallet and work from that – mine is generally blue or aqua.

    2. Mix and match textures. You don’t have to have all the same texture of cushions. Different fabrics and styles can actually work really well together. We have our Indus range of soft wool and cotton cushions and we find the greys in this range go really well with the more patterned fabric range of Canvas + Sasson cushions.

    3. Mix & match patterns. Gone are the days when everything has to match! In fact if your cushions are the same as your couch – I implore you to go and get them now and put them in the bin!! Different patterns can look fantastic together and add a real interest to the overall look. Often cushion designers will actually have a range of cushions and have already done the hard work for you.

    4. Quality is important! Buy the best you can afford is my advice… cheap cushions generally look cheap – and can look ordinary very quickly. Invest in quality and you will be rewarded with loving them a lot longer!

    5. Once you’ve got your cushion look covered then it’s always nice to finish the look off with a throw rug. Not only do they look fabulous but they are also very practical especially in those cooler months.
